About Us

Helping you channel your full potential

Our Story

Established in 1974, Laurel Ridge Skating Club was originally based in Ridgefield, Connecticut. After calling Danbury home for several years, the club moved to its current home arena, the Rinks at Shelton, where we have been proudly skating since 2013.

What began as a small group of skaters more than fifty years ago has grown into a thriving club that continues to honor its founding spirit: a love of figure skating and a commitment to the skaters who pursue it.

Our Mission

Laurel Ridge Skating Club is dedicated to supporting and advancing the sport of figure skating by providing opportunities for skaters to pursue U.S. Figure Skating testing, competition, and personal achievement. Through a strong skating community, experienced coaching, and a commitment to excellence, we help our members develop their skills, reach their goals, and grow within the sport.

Our Values

Community

We are a club, not just a program. Friendships made on our ice last a lifetime.

Development

We support every skater’s journey, whether the goal is recreation, testing, or competition.

Sportsmanship

We celebrate effort, integrity, and respect for the sport, for officials, and for one another.

Service

As a nonprofit, we are powered by the dedication of our volunteers, families, and members.

Who We Are

Founded in 1974, Laurel Ridge Skating Club is a member club of U.S. Figure Skating serving skaters throughout western Connecticut. Based at the Rinks at Shelton, our club is dedicated to supporting figure skaters as they progress through U.S. Figure Skating testing, competition, and personal achievement within the sport.

For more than 50 years, LRSC has provided a supportive and encouraging community where skaters can pursue their goals, celebrate milestones, and continue developing their skills both on and off the ice. Through sanctioned test sessions and opportunities for advancement, we remain committed to fostering excellence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for figure skating.

Our Home

We are proud to call the Rinks at Shelton our home arena, where our members have trained, tested, and competed since 2013.
